How long have I been working on this? Well, it's done.
And by done I mean no longer being edited. Even though anything other than jinglesþula standards, there would be more work to be done... but it's done.
There's a pre-screening tonight at the planetariton, six p.m. Then further distribution to occur. Jon has a DVD which should be copied for everyone.

Progress is being made in the editing department... and then I got sick, so nothing was happening at all despite my 20 hour computer lab shifts (now a thing of the past...)... web comics are addictive.

So here's a rough list of what remains:

-retrieve footage from #4 at the physics/astronomy computer lab
-prepare script outlines for vlogs/council sequence.
-scene w/Jingles being given to Rastafar (rastafars half): camera, Matt Kinney, Mrs. Kinney, at Temple of Vishnu;
-scene w/Jingles finding Ralph von Holst and the Dread Pirate Mike's blogs respectively: Jon, camera, Jon's laptop (requires DPM's and DNVE vlogs to be done first)
-scene w/Jingles and Ralph von Holst exposition: Jon, Tanner, possibly Jarrett, at location debatable
-text panels made for silent-film sequence
-Dread Pirate Mike and/or Dennis Neuenschwanstein von Eugendorf video blog segments

Okay so now, I'm back in the world of those with a working vehicle to get me from point a to point z. I will be able to participate in filming as noted on the facebook events page. I also have acquired a darker hair color so if i absolutely MUST be Rachel Ray, it's more plausible with my non-blondish hair. I do request that if such a cameo occurs I need a hook hand/arm appendage. For as we all know it is my sincerest wish to cut off that woman's arm! Or even better, Pink Abigail "Scourge of the 7 c's" should challenge Rachel to a bitter to the death battle. I would gladly fight myself!

And since we are using pi....can we pretty please do a pi in the face move? Pretty please!

Actually, Andrew, that will work perfectly. We have a 'mockumentary' concept in mind for Jingles3la. For instance, after challenging battle with Ralph von Holst, jingles will google him and look at his uploaded video, which will do exposition about the character and his motivation. And then also the dread pirate Mike - so you can do a weblog post as Dennis (with 3d glasses - that is, you're his last living clone) explaining how you are helping along the nefarious plan of the dread pirate mike - he's trying to get the end of pi so he can make the spice cake of immortal power (which immortal power belongs to the kingdom of benheim). You are creating a machine to discover the end of pi by purely technological means, to rule the kingdom/world. So that's the basic idea. You make the vids and then send them along to me somehow and the footage will be included. Or better, simply upload them on this blog and we'll film over Jon's shoulder. I think that would be choice. So you're right on track with the webcam idea, which I guess proves we're all just about as crazy.

I think that we've found an effective solution for remote participation.

Remote location shooting?

So, as I have just discovered the wonders of this embedded video posting, it got me thinking about some kind of unique way to participate. Would there be a chance to incorporate any footage I might film here in Salt Lake City via the inter-web, or perhaps some other magical form of sending footage? Perhaps Dennis could show up via a "satellite uplink" for a nefarious video conference with the other foes? Any kind of ideas to incorporate anything of that sort? I'd really like to contribute, but my work schedule and location make it difficult to come to Ogden-town.

Martha Stewart style cooking show

Were you serious about having a cooking show? Because I have all sorts of ideas to make it fun. I could do it as Martha Stewart, or even Brittany could do it as Rachael Ray. Whoever does it could take special apples out of a conspicuously wrapped package and have the spice specially ordered from the evil Dr. Boom in the right amount of the last digit of pi tablespoons, since he is the only one that knows the last digit of pi. And hence the reason Jingles needs to know the last digit of pi is that if you use any less spice, the special apples will eat your brain and if you use more, the spice will ruin the cake. Or some such.

Day Two

We actually filmed!
we got ship deck footage -- cannon fire driven by drums
we got gnome diversion footage
we got random wallet-flying-off-the-roof footage
we got the mockumentary intro footage.

Day One

After props we also discussed locations, and plot elements, and how to shoot video with the iSight camera on the MacBook Pro...

To recap the basic plot:

Scene 1. Diabolical math class, the confused Franz Liszt vows to seek out the rabbi ben yuill.
2. talking head exposition about him and the dread pirate mike's crew.
3. jingles talks about what he's up to and who's with him - Benedikt (now Afrikaans), ricky, &c.
4. they run up against Rafe von Holst and have a brief duel between him and Jingles, Holst compares him to Mike (who's mike?)
5. After that, Jingles gets on his laptop and Googles him, finds his little talking head webcam revealing he's a son of a major spice trader out to make the seas more safe.
6. Jingles goes to find Rafe and invite him to study the superior way, but finds his ship has been sunk by the Dread Pirate Mike. Save lawn gnome, get promise from Gnome King.
7. Also jingles googles the dread pirate mike's blog and learns about him, too - thus the dread pirate's exposition phase, revealing his evil quest for pi power and the recipe for the magical spice cake.
7a. Which (talking head of King Ben) holds the secret of the renewal of the power of the kingdom of Benheim. Benedikt says it requires special apples without adding to that.
8. Jingles' crew goes to save Rafe. Using a diversion provided by the gnome king,(summon Loge by striking fire with spear) (scooby-doo scene in practice rooms) they sneak aboard the ship, spill liquor (green) into Boom's experiment, and go to the hold.
9. A long exposition scene ensues wherein Jingles explains to Rafe why he's called the pirate,
10. Including a flashback scene with Mr. and Mrs. thepirate and Mr. and Mrs. TheProphet Rastafar. Jingles given to the proph for safekeeping, explains (though briefly - "this is my wife, she's from the future") the Thiefannie thing.
11. The exposition is so long that the badguys wait - then run errands - and play a game of bridge in the port town with other pirates - and then finally get back.
12. Rafe joins jingles. They go upstairs.
13. Dramatic fight sequence. to include sanitizer in the eyes.
14. goodguys notice smoking room. Franz liszt does or does not appear suddenly to partly save the day.
15. Goodguys get back to Jingles' ship. Mike's ship explodes. Mike in knee-deep water shakes fist, this won't be our last meeting.
16. Little denouement scene where Ralph joins jingles' quest, but Franz says his (her) path leads elsewhere; disappears with magic exit sign.
17. "Well, that's about it then."




Well, day one of filming (today) concluded with no actual filming being done but, thomas-edison like, we now know at least one kind of tape that won't work in the camera.
